I was waiting to see more responses coming on to my CRAP postings on FB regarding cricket and then reply in one go. Here is what I found with the help of one Algorithm shared 2 months before the WC2011. Here is the link if anyone missed to read http://avinashmishra1307.blogspot.com/
This post is not a justification of what the predictions were BUT to put my strong belief about the cricket after the WC 2011. As 99% of you don't care what I shared on FB but may be a worth reading.
The logical predictions were:
1. India will reach in the final and lose (just before the WC starts)
2. Just before QF, prediction was SL-Ind Final (just got miscalculated and first thought about Ind-Pak)... even while Aus, Pak, SA and SL were in the race as strong contenders. The prediction was based on the logic that comes on being Asian teams where Cricket is the only name remains as sports and people watching it for 9 hours and so can be used as product launchpad.
3. Just before and during both Aus and Pak match, when LOST was in thought of many after losing couple of wickets, I was still firm to say - India has to win.
4. In Pakitan match - prediction was Sachin will NOT score century even when he was at 80. I said now its end of the days play for Sachin and he has to be back. One of my friends on FB can confirm it as I was chatting with him at that moment.
5. Sachin will score century in Mumbai final
There were more small predictions went fine but lets pick the bigger ones only.
5 above are significant enough what happened BUT there are 2 predictions that went wrong. Prediction 1 was I would say 50% correct and 50% went wrong AND 5th one totally wrong may be because of some reason which I will explain below. India-SL match was a final match and equations must have turned at the last moment.
My logic on loosing final was - If India reach final then only 121 Crores (news paper says this based on latest census and I am somehow agreeing on this joke) Indians are watching the WC till the end of the tournament. FOR THE ADS and PRODUCT waiting to be launched during this time and can bang in the Indian market.
Being a final and no more cricket in future for this WC, no business bothers much if India loose so it SHOULD be a REAL cricket to be played. Where I can say a better team should win. BUT a team like India - inconsistence and reached to the final with outside influence and other team who reached to the final as a strong team with all their weapons, should win... I was wrong here.
SURPRISINGLY ... I got a TEXT (SMS) on my blackberry messenger on 1st Aprill at 12:03 noon (Again one of my dear friends in FB sent that to challenge or to suggest a change in my prediction). The text reads below as is:
1. SL will win the toss and bat first
2. They will score 270-274
3. Sehwag will be out in first over
4. Sachin will not make century and be out in 90s
5. India will win the match...
The text also reads the money exchange which is I feel is something that I should not put that here without proof. I discarded this text saying this is rubbish as I was in impression that at least final can't be influenced. I was rather humble saying the cricket is played by business tycoons but this text was real rude.
I don't have TV subscription to watch the cricket but go online streaming sometime. I just watched the toss in final (some mess there) and left it. That day it was not buffering well so closed it as I somehow convinced what’s going to happen.
After 20 overs I checked the score, was ok type... at 40's and again ok type... and so as at 45... but last 5 overs turned biggi for SL with 63 runs. 3 out of them were bowled by Mr. Khan. What happened to him??? His second spell was something extra ordinary? He lost his farm in just 1.5 hours? Anyways part of the game :p. SL was at 274. I slightly reminded the TEXT I got.
The cricinfo and the commentators said it’s a big total on this pitch and India have to be 100+ in 15 overs without or for just 1 wicket otherwise the game is for SL. The pitch will break around 25 overs.... But didn't happen and I don't know why the same didn't happen against Australia as well... Pitch didn't behave!
First over of Indian inning and I was still with me. Second ball and I had to recollect the TEXT about Viru, clicked my mind so I read it again. Out of 5 predictions of it, first 3 were true so rest 2 will be going true as well???????? In the end - just one went wrong!!! May be wrongly hit by Tendulkar :).
As I said, I am neither a businessman nor a bookie so not sure what happened but there was something well defined just one day before the final? Hats of to BCCI and the leaders. They are doing their best. That is not costing them anything as now money is everywhere for them and companies are queuing there for ads. A big customer Relationship is done remarkably by ICC and millions of more customers from India are now attached to the cricket. We are not going to win any more until next 12 years as this was refreshment after 1983. Now ICC/BCCI will need some maintenance using IPL. That also been screwed by Mr Modi ALONE?
This also reminds me a series 15 years back when suddenly we got some quality girls to won multiple beauty pageants... not require to name them for sure but then no more?? Reason - India being a big market, all the beauty products should be launched and that was the best way to do so... Go back to the history and check when the big beauty and skin care brands landed in the India.
I am thinking about the next world cup when Bangladesh would be the team in semis other than these three Asian biggies?? Cricket is only in Asia now so my prediction is.
